A Commitment to Clients and to Independent Research

When we first established the Pioneer Investments-sponsored Trends in Savings and Wealth website back in 2003, we were looking for a way of sharing our economic research and also of signalling that we are strong believers in independent thinking and best practice.

At the time the markets were still shaken by the high tech bubble. We felt a strong need to better understand investor behavior. This was at the base of ambitious research projects, both on the macro side of financial accounts and on the micro side of household surveys.

We are happy today, in Spring 2008, to assess that the initial mission has been fulfilled beyond expectations. The papers posted on the site are being requested by an increasing number of professionals, academics and journalists. Pioneer Investments Economic Research has received important external recognitions and we have successfully sponsored third party contributions, especially through the European Colloquia, an annual conference featuring Nobel Prize winners and, more generally, economists working on the frontiers of finance.

The new look of the site therefore also reflects its evolution from childhood to youth. We are committed to the future sponsoring of innovative working papers as well as authoritative contributions on the prospects for savings and wealth. The quality of asset management will always be a function, among others, of independent thought.
